Undeniable proof that Steam is not mass deleting negative reviews.
Just had to share this and give the original poster credit.

As you can see there is a consistent rise in the number of reviews both positive and negative that were captured by SteamDB over the three days captured by the wayback machine.

I will say again If anyone can show me hard evidence that Steam is mass deleting negative reviews then I will give them a $50 steam card.

They must have video proof of the numbers going down in real time to qualify for my prize.

They also need to show photos or videos of at least 20 reviews that were on steam that were listed and have now been removed and those reviews must not have had anything in them that would violate steams TOS.

So what about the folks who played, posted negative reviews, and then refunded? I've seen at least 5 posts here and on discord from people saying their reviews disappeared after refunding....

and the whole thing about violating TOS is horse crap, there are giant ASCII penises in a ton of other game review streams on steam and valve doesn't do a damn thing about those....

the games positive and negative ratio is also on the steam front page by hovering on the games review score which has more screenshots than steamdb. the game can be found on new and trending.

this is in defense of steam not the game the game is actually mid

exactly, saying their review got removed, without any proof whatsoever.

and even if they did, a review that breaches the ToS being removed, isn't malicious

I don't know if i think they're hand deleting reviews either.

However, is there a good explanation on why steam reviews are so different than critic reviews and out of line with the player counts? I'd agree that external user reviews are probably more vulnerable to bad faith scoring (in either direction).

I feel like we've seen this same pattern of steam reviews on the release of a divisive game lagging behind reality for a couple months. I have to imagine it is related to their anti review bombing logic or something like that.

critic reviews are reviewing the game regardless of their personal interest, people who bought it had an interest.

thats the main difference

and out of line with the player counts?
exactly how are they out of line with player counts?

if anything the reviews are high in contrast to playercounts

I checked the number of negative reviews and it dropped from 500 something to 430. May be a bug in the UI and not something more malicious, but there is something weird going on.

See my second paragraph in my original post about TOS violation. If Valve is doing it, its unique to this particular game.....

and how do you screenshot something after it got deleted? That's like asking me take a picture of a UFO after it flew away 2 hours ago.....

simple people are not buying the game due to negative press so no negative reviews from those who would have bought the game just to get disappointed.

The Steam DB which uses the api is proof of absolutely nothing. Steam DB is not some kind of "wayback" machine. If removes are removed then api calls to those reviews are also gone. The database doesn't hang on to reviews or data that was removed from the platform.

Why do so few people understand this?

its most certainly not unique...

classic deflection. the point here is that people are claiming something to have happened without being aple to prove it...

"they deleted the proof" is one hell of an excuse to get out of proving an accusation like this

The game is Dog yet its very positive on Steam some sort of shady crap going on so why are you even defending Valve you getting paid? or just shilling for no good reason.

its not shady if you actually know how to think about these kind of things...

the target audience bought the game and enjoyed it, the rest of you didn't buy the game because it doesn't appeal to you.

see how that works? its not shady, its how reviews are supposed to work.

you don't review something you don't have the intention of playing because you aren't part of the target audience

No it's not weird, but don't say it too loud or you will wake the denial trolls.....
