No. It was a general online ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who made them fail.

Pretty sure it had more to do with trying to make the most manipulative and exploitative software imaginable. The game didn't have to be good or fun. Just habit forming to keep people playing so they can buy up those micro transaction.

Yup, the pandering is a big part of it.

Yes, boycott DC until Jim Lee is fired.

Lol DC Comics has nothing to do with this. Direct your anger at Rocksteady

Judging by the peak player count, people had no idea what the content of the game was before they decided not to buy it based on information previously available. I.e. it's a live service model that the bulk of gamers despise.

I personally was excited for it a little over a year ago, then the lead director quit very suddenly right before it's original slated release date. I decided that was a bad omen and brushed the game off.

These "companies" are just excuses to give employment to feminists. Boycott them and do something fun with your money and life.

It wasn't wokeness that made the senior executives order a generic live service game from a studio that had no experience making live service games. As long as the AAA companies are fixated on shareholder returns and nothing else, you're just going to get clones and remasters from them.

Even the Rocksteady you're thinking of jumped ship over this trainwreck. This was a whole new team under the old banner being held at gunpoint to make this.

Straight up the game was doomed to fail there's no way there going to make back the money they spent on this game & it'll most likely be the closure of the studio in question.

And the money they spent on it could have been used to fund dozens and dozens of indie dev teams that would have come up with new IP and new mechanics that could have been easily monetised.

I can't think of anything good that has come out of a AAA studio in the last few years, its all been indie (either tiny teams working out of their garage or unaffiliated like Larian). If Larian had been owned by a AAA studio, they would have cancelled BG3 in favour of a Diablo clone.

ed: Capitalism nearly killed gaming in the 80's with ET and it looks like its coming back to have another crack at it.

Doesn't matter, all that matters is they got license to use characters from DC comics and did what they wanted to.

Jim Lee would probably look at this game's plot and laugh his arse off.

The Rocksteady that's not there anymore wanted to make a Batman Beyond and/or Superman game. WB wanted this crap

They probably would have ruined those too lol

Some corpo at WB probably would've focused tested a way to screw it up. This is why I think when triple a devs spoke out against with Larian saying "Don't expect this level of quality from us" wasn't saying they won't make an amazing game, but a message that they can't because they don't have the autonomy Larian had to make essentially a passion project.
