Why are people calling it WOKE squad?

The post I recently made seems to prove that no, rocksteady didn't remove reviews and no, there were never that many reviews.

This guy, "boogiewoogie" wasn't so sure so he started posting meta-critic reviews derailing the post. when it was pointed out to him that people who have never played can leave a review, he starting referring to as a "woke squad" and began bringing up abunch of anime games from japan. I started noticing in posts that would make stuff up, or posts that linked youtube videos to obese people who are really mean, that people would keep calling it "Woke squad".

what is "woke" about suicide squad? Does Harley Quin talk about the generational trauma of black people and how we need financial and property reparations? Does the shark guy talk about coral bleaching events and our contribution to rising sea temperatures?

i dunno those are really the only two people i know who are in this thing, what about the suicide squad is so "woke"?

You guys seem to be mad about a woman having an opinion when she applied feminist theory to gaming and wanted an open discussion. That was 10 years ago and you're still sitting on the internet crying while games have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ more progressive, as in having diverse characters and writing, during that time.

And while I'm perfectly happy to see projects fail and studios close it'd at least be interesting if some of these intersectional halfwits learned how to weave their social commentary into their game with some subtext instead of treating their audience like they have been - might actually be more palpable and lose less money

Most current AAA games have these elements. It's not about supporting the woke agenda - it's about having to please investors.

Suicide Squad has elements of it as well, including the obvious token diversity character named Hack.

But the game is still great and it's pretty minor when it comes to the woke agenda, I find.

That said, if you're one of those people who would rather play with your principles than a fun game - Suicide Squad might be one to avoid.

the investors are using ESG/DEI to sway the companies to make these things, hoping that the lack of sales will be negated by the investments. Its a very simple system that is not working.

Well, you doing well speaking for yourself there if you turn a blind eye or ignore the flirting within the game between Harley Quinn with child Poison Ivy.

They could have reworded that meeting in any manner with her being shocked/surprised with Poison Ivy as a child, not throwing in hints even as a 'joke.'

Nice signaling. I never said I was upset with the person being black. I am upset they race swap an established character in the Arkham series. Deadshot was white in Arkham trilogy, but now they made him black. I would just be as annoyed if he was black and they made him white, but I am sure you would and all the Lefties would be as well there. As if corporate was promoting giving women the right to vote.
As if corporate was promoting ending Jim Crow laws.

But now, this moment in time, corporate is working in the best interests of society? Corporate and ESG have finally put profits aside and are now going to behave morally and ethically, bringing in a brave new world of equality?
