Do i need to watch the movie to understand this game?

not at all, they give all the back story to the squad forming just like in the movies. The story of the game has nothing to do with the movie universe. I'd say you need to be somewhat familiar with the characters though.

best thing about this specific lore is Piecemaker series though : an absolute must watch (hoping for the DLC)

It will help you understand who they are. Even Harley is more like DCU Harley then Arkham Harley. Just depends on if you care about the Characters, or just the Game Play.

It would help. It would also probably get your hopes up. "The" Suicide Squad 2021 is actually a really good movie. The movie from 2016 is really bad, but now that I think about it, the character development was better than this.

Different continuity. It's supposed to be part of the Arkham series, but probably topical level references to that.

Yeah I know everyone calls its the DCU. Your referring to the cinematic universe as the DC Universe. Both of them suck
