User is not in the ARGUS database?

Can't seem to join friend, he sees me online but I don't see him. I get an error saying User is not in the ARGUS database.

There's another copy of the same nickname in the friend list, try to invite another copy

I don't find a second copy of the same nickname in my list. Any other solutions/ideas so far?
Seems I can invite random people though when I look for them

nvm, here is how it goes:
Go to the "clan invite members" section and then press the button to search for players (S on PC)
Use the correct STEAM name that is being displayed on their profile.
Send invite.

This is how it worked for me.

> Social
> Friends
> Look at bottom left, press key for search player.
> Manually type your friend's name, use the "send invite" key to send invite, don't just click on the name plate.
> They will need to check the invites panel in the social tab for your invite to accept.
> Finally get to play with your friend.
