However, I must admit that I think there should be more progress in the last few years, I don't even remember a single new feature ever since Trump rising or even long before that.
For example some ideas can be more diplomacy options, 5 or so political parties per country that can have an impact on relations with other countries, limited border wars, for example hexes belonging to a certain "data region" being casus belli or offered as parts of peace offerings, like Russian populated regions of Ukraine and so on. Foreign military bases, like US bases in south Korea or Russian bases in Transnistria, ability to form and customize separatist regions and most practically and easily implementable of all - saddam cheat with the choice of which countries you want to fight.
If you type saddam a hundred times, chances are that maybe five will even be countries that are bordering, while the other 95 will be Nepal vs Ecuador, Rwanda vs Laos and pointless conflicts like that. The only workaround for this is to save the game, open it in multiplayer as another country/player, attack the country you want to attack, save the game, run the game again and choose your country. I suppose every region in the game has a tag of some sort, like Serbia being "region 76", so the cheat should be "saddam-76-45" or something like that.
I know that implementing new features is hard work, but I really whish that SR stays here for longer and that's not going to happen if there's no updates for years.

Having spent 6 years creating more than 30 updates, we decided last year that it was time to officially end development. You can see the full history of all updates on our forums here;

We've been hard at work on Galactic Ruler since late 2018 and we have already said that when we're done with GR, we'll be working on a "Supreme Ruler Next Generation" but we don't have much details for that project yet. We hope that you'll enjoy our future titles as well.
Is there at least a mod or any sort of workaround for the saddam thing, other than dealing with savegames, entering and exiting the game over and over again?
I assume you mean this issue?
Yes, sort of. With one of the later updates we added to the main menu load game screen, a button underneath the date of the savegame, that lets you load as any country in that save. You don't need to go to Multiplayer.
There is still no direct way to "force" another country to DoW on someone else. I don't think you should have that ability, that's why what you're talking about is listed under cheat codes. And those codes are actually dev tools we created when we needed to test things during development, not intended/supported features.
Actually, most ideas are not hard. But they do take resources, and those are always limited. Two key improvements that SR Next Gen will get from GR development will be DirectX 11 support and 64 Bit architecture. The work involved was significant, but development for GR saw the resource allocated from the start. It's all about managing projects and setting reasonable scope.
Well, it is if they had become friendly due to game circumstances that evolved during play. But we do recognize that the tendency for countries to find peaceful solutions might help IRL but not translate as well to a game where players are looking for conflict. As part of NextGen development I'm sure we'll look for more ways to make the world more dynamic and lively.
Love to see active engagement from developers for a title with this age. It's a rare sight, looking forward to your future titles!
1) Is it pretty much 100% confirmed that there will be another Supreme Ruler?
2) Based on my experience, some areas that could improve: work on optimizing the game obviously as the game slows down tremendously 10 years in, expand the amount of resources on the map (i.e. more oil areas, coal areas, potentially add water as a resource, etc), update certain territories (when it comes to population and economy) and units (for example the stats and names of certain models), and allow for more economic/production control i.e. add gas lines/pipes that allow you to control to what nation you want to supply gas/oil and what nations you don't want to - without being sanctioned -, add the use of sanctions as a tool, create the ability for a coup d'etat, create maybe a military ranking system allowing you to directly appoint generals and admirals and ministers, custom creation of brigades and battalions and corps as per Hoi4. I think the AI also would need to be tweaked because they always seem to overbuild units like crazy.
3) if 1 is pretty much confirmed, is there potentially a rough year release date that the company is aiming to go into beta?
4) Consider in the future to have a bigger stimulation for users to use the Workshop and mod the game. The only reason hoi4 is alive to date (as i have over 1000 hours and without mods, i probably would've gotten bored 100 hours in) is due to its modding community.
5) With an updated, sleek UI, with maybe easy to understand tutorials, marketing the future series will be better and easier as more young people would join the game out of curiosity and because it may not require too much brain power; helping you guys with generating more revenue.
6) Overall, good stuff, loved the game. Upsetting that this current game won't be further supported, but 1000% looking forward to future Supreme Ruler series. Your team needs to see what hoi4 is lacking and what its good and take those features/improvements into your future game. Done right, you can get a large auditorium. Cheers.
