How do i Join a Proxy War?

Im United states, and the french and some nato members are loosing the war in Vietnam, so i want to help them (im playing as US) But i still dont want to declear war Against Vietnam, soo how do i join a proxy war? Do i just need to send troops and kill Vietnams without declearing war (like neutral fire)

If you are allied with the country which you want support, you can send your troops to the battle field and support as "neutral" faction.

This might already work with transit-treaties, but I am not quite sure about that point.

Alliance and Mutual Defense are the treaties that allow for proxy.
