Which Supreme Ruler should I buy?

I am a FPS player but have fallen in love with grand strategy games. I am a complete noob. I spent days trying to learn how to play Hearts of Iron 3. I really like the Supreme Ruler videos I have seen but cannot make up my mind which one I should start with as a beginner to this genre.

Should I go for Supreme Ruler 1936 or the Ultimate Version?

Which has less micromanagement? And which one will be easier on my little fps brain?

I would suggest Ultimate as it includes the 1936 scenario as well as the more modern scenarios. They are essentially the same in terms of UI and complexity, but Ultimate has received more updates, has a more active multiplayer and modding community, and includes more content.

Development for Supreme Ruler Ultimate has recently ended, meaning the end of regular content updates. There is a new title in development Supreme Ruler 2030 you can add to your wishlist and follow the game to receive news on the development progress, and be notified when it is available for purchase.

There is also Galactic Ruler, the newest title which is still receiving updates. I think that Galactic Ruler has the best tutorial out of all the games in the series. I also think it is the best at explaining the core concepts of a Supreme Ruler game. It has a procedural generated galaxy, with reduced complexity in some areas and an emphasis on exploration and empire building.

SR Ultimate essentially has all the other released games included. It includes The Great War and 1936 in that you can start in 1914 up to 2020.

The campaign has start dates from 1914 (The Great War) to 1949 (Cold War) as well as a fictional 2020 start.

As for training I recommend beginning with the great war ; when the airforces aren't a thing yet ; unit designs are basics.

Well there is a bundle if I buy Supreme Ultimate. The bundle has Great War. If I get 1936 then that is all I get.
