Chris Crawford's game "Balance of Power" is probably the best type of game to simulate that sort of thing, but those of you who have played BoP probably remember that you always lost in a nuclear armageddon if you didn't back down.
Afghanistan might be a bit easier, although as a player one would "fully commit" and it would be relatively easy to win. The Soviets (like the Americans in Vietnam before them) lacked the will to fully commit their forces.
Maybe you guys can add in operation desert storm. I'd like to play as Iraq and create an Iraqi Empire. Maybe an entire campaign? As always for any big amount of extra content I'd be up to pay for a DLC like that if possible. Or maybe a scenario to add where half the world starts out being conquered already by Japan during WWII and Germany has the other half. (A Man in the High Castle scenario basically.) Would LOVE that. Two super powers going at each other. 1 vs 1. Prize, the ENTIRE world.
Also, a limited peace deal would be nice to represent the taking back of Kuwait while not annexing all of Iraq.
