Using designs you buy from other nations

I am playing as Uzbekistan in 2020 campaign. Russia is killing me with air so i bought AA tech from America. I have the prerequisites but I can still not build them. They do not show up in my designs list.

Am i missing something? Is there a Land Production advanced factory or something?

Great powers have designs that once and if they research it, can then be soldl to you through private diplomacy deals.Assuming you're playing single player, you could (as I do) use the cheat code : cheat allunit to get access to designs owned by other nations once you researched the appropriate tech. You will then be able to choose from a large array of designs to research with each new tech related to units designs. Have fun !

I bought some AA guns ... MIA5 37MM SPAAG. I buy it ... diplomatic exchange successful ... but then I cannot produce it. It requires Military production II and Improved AA guns ... two techs I have researched.

So with a little more testing ... I found out I can only build designs from Russia, Multiple, or Worldwide origins. That is kinda annoying ... I mean ... I cannot build American equipment because I use old Soviet factories? lol

I guess this is not modeled in this game but in RL you also need the manufacturing knowledge (down to a personal level) to build sophisticated stuff.

The issue, I believe is, you need to reset your options for designs. In 2020 that design is considered obsolete. Check the show obsolete designs in settings/options.

I've resolved the same issue previously in the same way but you forgot to mention that the game AND steam has to be restarted. So what happenned is Russia sold you the design but they themselves marked it as obsolete.

But the game does not need to be restarted if you change those options. Now, if you change the graphics options...

Regarding unit designs then im pretty sure you can buy from any country.
What matter is your relations with them, so maybe try to trade more with them manual and as time goes by they will open and allow you to buy i presume.
But be aware that some units require you have xxxx technology before you can buy the design.
And some units are "locked" so that only "primary" big countries can develop them.
Example the B2 stealth bomber is a US design.
However if usa will not sell the design to you, then maybe look at russia or china.
If i recall china will get a stealth bomber at some time, and russia also have some interesting stuff.

Personaly i play as Denmark and i usualy buy allot of tech, and then i sell a copy of the tech to other countries to cover the price i payed for the tech. Example you pay 20 billion usd for something and you can sell the tech to example 5 friends for minimum 4 billion usd each.
Though Denmark is a small coutnry then i usualy are able to defend against the germans in ww2 and after some time take about 50% of germany, making me a big country.
Then i research and expand. Just saying it would be nice as a successfull country to invest in research and my self invent a stealth bomber instead of being "locked out" of developing one my self. ( maybe the game need some kind of std unit in such cases that everyone can research )
