With Battalion, it's just a matter of knowing when to dash under or above him and just fire away.
However if you want an idea who's hardest when starting out.
Most difficult boss list of easiest to hardest without Mighty No. weapons:
1. No.8
2. No.6/No.2
3. No.5/No.4
4. No.1
5. No.7
6. No.3
*Boss battle only.
7 is the best weapon to do most stages, I actually used it 95% of the time since I got it.
I managed to get through Avi's stage without much trouble, but I couldn't beat him. Came very close though and got him down to his final phase, but then he started strafing the entire screen repeatedly by spraying bullets vertically, and I can't seem to figure out how to avoid them (even hiding behind the floating platforms on either side doesn't work).
Thanks again, at least I'm slowly getting the hang of it again, as the last traditional MM game that I played was ZX Advent so I've really been out of practice.
If you are still having trouble...I usually start with Mighty No.2 then just go through. This is a hint but you know if you have the weakness of the next Mighty # if you see (advice) under explain
Na..I used a lot of the pyrogen changes but that's how I figured out the weakesses..like here's the weaknesses that I know of (I don't remember names also just helping..please don't be upset for spoiling the weaknesses)
Mighty No #2 weapon is weak to Batt,
Batt's weapon is weak to Mack,
Mack weapon is weak to Mighty # 8 (the one with the duel swords)
The duel swords Mighty # is weapon weak to the electric girl
The Electric girl's weapon is weak to the sniper guy
Sniper Guy's weapon is weak to Avi
& Avi's weapon is weak to Mighty No #1
(also if you have Mighty No #1's weapon..is Mighty #2's weakness)
For right now I'm trying to see if I can get through the DLC character (Ray's) storyline..but that's much harder than Beck's
3 beats 8, basically get close tag and run off, and it takes away his invisibility allowing you to track him
8 beats 6, it's a little harder to justify but the bounce effect on the weapon allows you to easily hit avi and bouncing it off the camera always allows you a direct hit
6 beats 1, in fact this weakness more than any other one just breaks the boss,
1 beats 2, pyrogen shows up before the boss melting the ice and makes the fight more managable but the explosion can ♥♥♥♥ her up giving you more chances to hit
2 beats 5, slows him down, and you can negate his missle freezing the shot preventing it from going off
5 beats 4 I hate mic I always have trouble with him but it destroys most boxes and is able to ♥♥♥♥ him up big time,
4 beats 7, its funny because you can break 7's sword causing him to change his attack pattern to something a little easier,
And 7 beats 3 easy to hit the bits coming at you and those that are stuck
the weakness of the mighty is shown to you by whatever mighty shows up on the stage effecting it in some way.
I think the game starts off on Normal Difficulty so I just finish that..I never played through yet on Maniac but I'm sure it's interesting to play through that...also thanks for that weakness list, that's what I was trying to say
For a first playthrough and a Normal speedrun, starting with Pyro > Cryo > Bat is a solid opening once you know how best to use the boss weaknesses, as that gets you both the freeze shot and missiles after three stages and then the world is your oyster or something.
I started my speedrun with Cryo > Bat > Mic > Pyro, trading an easier Cryo fight to be able to safely bulldoze through the last sprint in the oil platform.
Those openings allow Shade > Avi to follow and that's always a good order considering how much smoother the rifle makes Avi's fight when you know how to use it. Ice and missiles are particularly important for the radio tower.
I find I always save Highway for last, but that's mostly because I hate that stage, it's made easier with many of the other weapons, and you really don't need the sword for Dyna or her stage, as nice as it is.
With just the buster, once you've mastered their patterns most of the bosses have a way to hit you if you get unlucky and/or slightly careless. The exceptions are Pyro, Dyna and maybe Shade; when you understand them there's no excuse for being hit in their fights.
