Everything is super laggy for me

I'm not sure why, but whenever I join a server with more than 10 people, the framerate gets unplayably low.
My computer can usually run multiplayer games really well, and the game runs smooth as butter when I'm alone.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way to fix it?
If not I'll probably have to refund.

It does get laggy when there's too many players. The only work around I found is to install Anti lag mod in thunderstore mod manager.

There is an issue where if someone has way too many fish without selling, like 150+, it starts getting super laggy. The fish in their inventory count as entities or something like that in the over world, and if people in larger lobbies just don't sell their fish it becomes impossible. I've seen frames go from like 40 to 60 when someone remembers to sell their fish.
