How is the hacker situation?

When I last played there was an issue with code-based lobbies having a rampant problem with certain people being able to enter these lobbies without being given the code. This was a huge bummer for me, since I liked leaving a lobby open for my friends and friends-of-friends to join on my PC and popping in and out as I liked.

Are these people still an issue? How safe are code-based lobbies right now?

I just do not understand the appeal behind intentionally making people uncomfortable like that.

It's fine for the most part, the above people are just being weird and trying to keep you from playing. There's no longer people mass joining lobbies, ofc I'm sure you'll find an occasional "hacker" but you can now properly kick/ban players so it's not a problem as long as the host notices.

There's an approval system now so if you want to play only with your friends you'd just have to approve their connection, if any non-friend tries to join you can decline it.

as of the latest update? grincher isn't even running bots atm as far as I'm aware, there is someone doing it now but it shouldn't matter that much as long as you can ban em.
