optimization?
I play on a PC with a gt 1030 video card, and on almost all settings the fps can drop below 55 frames. although the game does not seem demanding at all. Will there be future updates to improve optimization?

I imagine so, seems like the dev is taking a break after grinding for months and experiencing some health issues

in the meantime you can use the client side mod "calico" on the thunder store mod manager to improve performance, it is vanilla friendly and fully compatible with unmodded servers

dev has actually abandoned the project, last communication was a makeship slop plush and before that was radio silence for 28 days, and before that was a bugfix that caused more bugs that others are still experiencing today (no names, problems with optimization, THREE DIFFERENT MEMORY LEAKS, and a few smaller things.)

I used the global game mod "DXVK" and now the game runs smoothly. Maybe my method will help someone

I oughta try DXVK when I can. I use it for a couple games already but the results were mixed so far. May be worth a shot here to try and get me back into the game since multiplayer can be very harsh on the frames for me.

I'm running an FX-8320 (granted, a very old CPU) and GTX 1060. Single player is fine, 60fps, but I get HORRIFIC lag on servers with more than 6 players. Under 30fps when moving around, and the game turns into a slideshow for me when someone chats. If someone plays the guitar, my game crashes. Need to try installing performance mods, will likely update whether they work or not.

Unless the game is running with DirectX 12, it uses either Vulkan or OpenGL, so DXVK is entirely useless here.
