chat not working right

whenever I join a lobby, it always seems like I'm only seeing part of a conversation; it's like I can see one guy's response to another person, but I can't see the other person. I've had this happen twice now (I've only played online twice). I saw someone post about the same problem and they said their issue was using a VPN, but I don't use a VPN. does anyone know the fix for this?? I really love this game but not being able to see chat messages ruins the fun.

One half of the conversation may be happening in local chat instead of global chat? If you have someone blocked it removes them almost entirely from your game. There used to be a bug where people weren't able to see others like this, but after the not so recent update I haven't seen anyone talk about having this specific issue.

that's what I thought, but all of the people in the server when this happened most recently were on one little bridge, including the people whose messages I WAS seeing; I was in proximity to them such that I should have been able to see the same local chat as them.

It is interesting that you say it is a problem people used to have though; apparently I am not the only one. I'll download the mods, but I don't expect to play this game at least until the next update where hopefully this is patched.
