weird text glitch?

just recently got the game but for some reason I keep encountering a strange glitch. any pop up text thats on screen stays in this weird dragged form, same with opening up the backpack menu. its like an after-image effect (thats the best way i can describe it)
it also disables the left click button on my mouse, idk what to do...
im not sure how but has anyone else encountered this? some help would be much appreciated :c

the best way i can describe it is if you've ever played a source game (tf2/gmod) and you reach an area without the skybox and the exact same visual glitch happens
