Best way to catch the golden bass?

SAME i literally CANNOT get this fish, im convinced theres something wrong. ive been using the sparkling lure (for catching higher tier fish) and any bait besides worms, still nothing :(

The only requirements to catch the golden bass from what I know is to use any bait other than worms, and to fish in a freshwater source (which includes wells and toilets from what I've seen). Using the golden lure seems to quadruple the chance of catching the golden bass, but it's still so rare that it may take hours to find. The chances of a Golden are extremely slim, even with the Golden Hook, so you just have to keep going and hope either you or your fishing buddy catches one. Same goes for the Manta. It becomes even more painful because to complete the journals you'd need 10 minimum catches and hope they all align perfectly.

bait type doesnt matter and the sparkling lure is sabotaging you, it goes for the star tiers so like sparkling shiny opulent alpha and such. Golden hook is the ONLY hook that goes for rare fish like the rain one, the gold manta, the gold bass, and one other fish I forgot about

I've only caught the golden bass twice, and both times were coincidentally in the small ripples that spawn. The first time, I used the large fish lure with nautilus bait, and the second time, I used the golden lure with cricket bait.
