Reeling in - do you have to spam left click?

I don't know if I can play this game if you absolutely have the spam the left click mouse button to reel in a fish. It hurts my hand after just a couple. Can this not be rebound to something like spacebar?

Last major update they added a setting that allows you to just hold the button

It's called "autoclick" under the settings

you can get a mod that lets any key press do the mashing whilst fishing

You can hold the button until it comes to the barriers, then spam click. It took me too long to figure this out too.

The bottom of the controls menu is an alternate bind for the fishing minigame..

I use auto-click and I bind “Alt-Fishing” to numpad Enter. I just press Enter and hold.

You only have to spam once you hit a numbered barrier, but if that also causes pain, like the first commenter said there's an autoclick setting under accessibility for those who need it.
