Metal Detector Losing Signal??!

I'm trying to unlock the cosmetics and noticed a quarter of the time the metal detector stops working half-way thorough finding a dig site. I go back to where I originally found the signal and... nothing. A bug or are the dig sites despawning? If so, it would be good that they didn't despawn while someones currently on the track. Anyone else?

Yeah that's happened to me a couple of times I guess they despawn.

Yea I wish a trail a player picks up on wouldn't despawn until they either find it, unequip the metal detector, or pick up a different trail
