I bought my laptop last year with intel iris xe. But all the time i tried to play space engine, my laptop shuts down and restart. Then dell changed my motherboard to a new one and still couldn't play space engine without shut down my my laptop.

So last month they gave me a new laptop and guess what, it still continues to shut down and restart. I need to say i play other games without any problem, this just happens with space engine.

Currently, SpaceEngine requires a discrete Nvidia or AMD GPU with at least 2 GB of VRAM. Intel graphics are not enough.

It's so frustrating having space engine shuting down and restarting my laptop because my intel iris xe can use up to 8gb of system ram, that's more than 2 GB vram.

If your laptop is restarting, then SpaceEngine is not the cause, that's an issue with your hardware, drivers, or Windows. SpaceEngine cannot cause a computer to shut down.

Re: VRAM, I was talking about dedicated video memory, not shared memory. The biggest issue with Intel is not the processing power or memory, but the poor quality of their graphics drivers which leads to compatibility issues.

Of course space engine is the cause, as i said before i got 1 new motherboard and 2 different laptops with the same intel iris xe and all of them shut down and restart the system. Space engine doesn't work well with intel graphics, that's a fact. Do you plan in the future make it possible to run in intel iris xe ?

SpaceEngine is the trigger, not the cause. Replacing the motherboard only rules out a hardware issue, not a driver or OS issue.

We will try to support any hardware which meets the minimum requirements for the program (having enough processing power, enough dedicated video memory, and appropriate graphical API support). To date, Intel has not released any hardware which meets these requirements. They do plan to release GPUs which meet those requirements in the future, probably this year, and when they are available we will purchase one for development and testing so we can ensure compatibility. Until then, we recommend that people who do not have hardware which meets the minimum requirements not purchase SpaceEngine.
