When will we get HDR display support?
I've tried using Reshade and Special K but no success in trying to get this game to output a 10 bit color space. If you have any workarounds until we finally get native support please let me know. This game is BEGGING for higher brightness values than SDR especially on an OLED display.

Please be aware that any menu options in the current versions relating to HDR are NOT for display output, they're simply changing the way the game tonemaps the SDR image.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I posted this in another thread. Keep in mind you need Windows 11 and an Nvidia RTX graphics card for this to work.

What you need to do is the following:

- In the Nvidia app, enable RTX HDR under the Graphics tab (global settings).
- In the Nvidia Control Panel, set "Vulkan/OpenGL Present Method" to "Prefer layered on DXGI Swapchain" under the "Manage 3D settings" menu.

The brightness is significantly higher in my experience. I'm not aware of a solution for Intel and AMD graphics though.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

To ensure everyone reading this thread is aware. the settings that BigBear is suggesting do not enable HDR in SpaceEngine. Instead, they use a proprietary and experimental NVIDIA machine learning model to create a fake HDR effect on 3D applications. I have personally tested this on a few apps and I feel that it is not yet ready for primetime yet. we do not support the use of these settings.

As the OP has acknowledged, he/she is just looking for a workaround to HDR. We know that this is not a replacement for a native HDR implementation, but is something that may enhance the experience while you work on the proper version. The OP already made the effort to experiment with different options so trying a third certainly doesn't hurt. Thank you for the disclaimer though.

Thank you @harbingerdawn for that reply, i agree that it doesn't make sense to try to shoehorn HDR output into an old API. Any idea what the rough timeline to vulkan might be?
And @BigBear, i've looked into RTX HDR and a few assorted mods that use this method, but i'm still on Win10 and this so far is the only thing that's made me want to consider upgrading haha.
