Flight simulator crashes the game
Hi,

I've been playing Space Engine for many years now, and bought it on Steam as soon as it was available. Last week, I was still going around in the Flight Simulator with my ships.

Today, everytime I try to get into the Flight Simulator, the game instantly crashes and sends me back to my desktop. I can still access the Planetarium though.

I don't think it's a GPU issue. I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, and as I said before, I ran the game many times previously, without any issue.

Hey please post your log file so we can see what's going on under the hood.

The SpaceEngine log file can be found at /Steam/steamapps/common/SpaceEngine/system/se.log. If you're having trouble locating it, below is a step-by-step:

  1. Right-click on SpaceEngine in your Steam library and select "Manage" from the drop down menu.
  2. Choose "Browse Local Files." This will open the installation folder for SpaceEngine.
  3. Navigate to the "system" folder.
  4. You should see a file called "se.log" within the folder. Note that by default, Windows File Explorer will hide extensions for known file types, so the file may just be called "se". Attach this file to your reply.

To share your log file for support, Email it as an attachment to support@spaceengine.org. Do not upload it to a file hosting site(IE Dropbox\Google Drive). Please include your name used on the forum in the subject line and a link to your post in the body.

Remember, directly pasting log file contents into the forum is not allowed as it can clutter the conversation and trigger auto mod. It's best to use the provided methods for sharing the log file.

The exact same thing has been happening to me. I'll be sending my se.log file to support as well/

Timmy, I see your Nvida driver is a bit outdated. can your try updating it. also can you describe what you are doing when it crashes?

I sent the log file via email. Waiting for the return.

Thanks very much for the help.

I've updated the Nvida driver, verified all the game files and done a fresh reinstall.

The game only crashes anytime I attempt to switch into Flight Simulator whether I do it from the Main Menu or from within the Planetarium.

Everything else runs like a dream :)

Hey guys make sure when you send the logs its from a session of the game when it crashes. if you send a log from a later session there is no information to help us track down this issue. All the logs I have received show graceful exits.

There's only one se log in the file you directed to.

SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\SpaceEngine\system

Still crashing. The se log just updated right after it crashed. I'm sending it again.

Hey looks like one of the mods you have installed has other users reporting issues. lets disable mods and clear your cache and see if the issue persists.

Clear Cache:
Remove the cache folder located at <Steamapps>\common\SpaceEngine\cache

Disable Mods:
Select SpaceEngine in your steam library and click the “Play” option -> Select “Launch Workshop configuration and uploading tool” at the menu that pops up -> uncheck all mods then select “Launch SpaceEngine”

It worked! Thanks so much! :)

FYI : I have two mods : Homeworld Ship Pack and MCRN Tachi - The Expanse.

I did clear the cache and remove the two mods. The game worked just fine. Then I tried to reactivate the mods, just to test. I did them separately, and finally I put them both back on, and it still works fine.

So maybe it's just a question of cache?

In any case, thanks again!
