The only possible reasons for this issue that come to mind are: if you have modified your keybindings in the settings, if you have an application (such as Corsair iQue or Logitech Gaming) that is altering the key's function, or if the key itself is malfunctioning or has stopped working. (for gamers "w" key failures is not uncommon)

I recommend checking the keybindings in the SpaceEngine settings first.
