Space Engine with Unreal 5 engine? Possible?
I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question, but I am neither a programmer or an IT specialist. Just a simple user who can turn on his machine and install a program. :) So I've read a lot about how challenging it is for Vladimir to develop SE, things like shadows, 3D volumetric clouds, etc. require a lot of work. Haven't you thought about switching to the Unreal 5 engine yet? After all, these things are already included in Unreal 5, it is not necessary to develop them. Seeing the breathtaking videos of Unreal 5 sci-fi, outer space theme, I can imagine how amazing the Space Engine would be based on this engine! As far as I know, Unreal 5 is also suitable for procedural generation. Is my idea worth considering? Again, sorry if it's silly, please don't stone me for it!

If switching to UnrealEngine 5 would happen, then theoretically the game shouldn't be calling itself SpaceEngine, because the name also means that the game has its own engine made for itself, and if the game switched the engine then the name should also be changed. Hope you understand.

What sets Space Engine apart is the engine, which is unparalleled in its realism. Every aspect of the game has been meticulously designed to provide the most authentic experience possible, from the way light interacts with a planet's atmosphere to the immense scale of the universe.

During the last Q&A Vladimir mentioned he considered merging the engines on and off more as a musing, but that is not likely to happen nor will we be changing to a new engine. With the larger team we have now getting bug fixes rolled out, catalog updates, and content updates has become a much more streamlined process.

OK. I see. I was just playing with the thought. Anyway, I'm excited for the next updates.
