Textures don't load
Hello,

I am having major issues with graphics. Detailed surface textures only load on very small 'patches' of terrain, while literally meters away there will be a vast area still showing a very low resolution. The surface doesn't 'even out' in terms of detail even after leaving it to load for 10, 20, even 30 minutes. Also, as soon as I shift the camera, any detailed texture that has loaded 'beneath my feet', as it were, quickly reverts back to low-res. I have tried changing the graphics settings between low, high and medium, the LOD/terrain loading times etc. - nothing seems to work.

My computer specs:
Intel i7-7700HQ Processor
8GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 1050Ti 4GB
128GB SSD

Can anyone tell me if this is could be an issue with my hardware or is a problem/bug with the game? I know it's a demanding piece of software but I just can't see how it could take this long.

Thanks

Hello, can you provide your log file please? It's located in your SE installation, in the "system" folder, and is called "se.log".

@Space Engineer:

My textures stop loading here. The previous version could continue to load for almost infinite length, with beautiful and sharp images as a result. The settings are almost at the highest setting here, texture compression is set to 'off'. Any idea what is going on?

I'm having the same issue. The game runs great, but the planetary details won't load. For example, The planets look like translucent blue spheres, and moons won't appear on screen at all.

That sounds like a separate issue. Please provide your log file (se.log, located in the "system" folder of your SE installation).

I see what is going on. When I get close to the surface, textures are sharp like a razor! But when I move just a few meters away, things get blurry in an instant, and the camera seems to lose focus. From a small distance, things are getting ugly and unrealistic, which wasnt the case with the previous version of Space Engine.

Already have.. Still think it has something to do with the LOD. While playing the previous version I set my landlod to 2, which was a performance hit but it gave me stunning distant visuals. Such a bummer that this is not possible anymore..

Those detail textures are only visible when close to them, that's how they work. As for the slightly farther away screenshot, you would encounter the same level of detail in 0.980 on the same planet at the same distance. The screenshot you posted from that version was taken from much farther away, and on a very different planet.

I have no reason not to believe you at your word, yet something feels 'different'. I can hardly put it into words. I miss the "wow" effect I always had. Finishing loading is much too fast (5 secs, like what?), where the previous version of Space Engine sometimes needed half an hour, continuous updating and adding more details, resulting in much sharper details on my screen. Distant details look very washy. blocky and lack of details right now.

FPS is good by the way, that was not the case before.
