Missing my locations after upate.
So my saved locations have now disappeared after small update. Black holes and Nebula. Say they do not exist. Was OK last night when running it. Any ideas?

Tried restarting PC and program. No joy. The thumbnails are there and some areas load but others are either not available or you find a different thing completely. If i click on a black hole i found a large X appears.

Procedural generation is what SpaceEngine is using to create random planets, stars and galaxies. All users having the same version of the program share the same "universe", based on a common "seed" number. When an update changes something important, let's say the introduction of new objects, or better galaxies, then it's possible for that "seed" number to change. This means that locations you have found with the previous update could not exist anymore or be completely different objects, or that their identification number (RS-xxx) changed.

This is going to be normal, until the development of SpaceEngine is finished and "seed" numbers will not change anymore.

I have four saved locations all of which survived the most recent update (June 16) without any issues. For reference, all were saved while in free mode. Below is what the camera view contained for each save.

- half disc view (terminator at screen edge) of procedural planet in a real galaxy
- full disc view of Earth
- partial disc view of the Milky Way (50K LY “above” the plane)
- pair of real galaxies in close proximity to each other (both fully visible)

I have found a workaround, make sure to backup the places-user.config file, found in the Config folder and after the updates just copy the backup into Steam/steamapps/common/SpaceEngine/Config.
This should restore your old bookmarked locations

Thanks for help guys. Trouble is the software updated before i knew it had happened. Oh well I just hope I can find the old places. Might find better ones.

Well I have the same exact problems happening again. It is not saving my places. Just now it has lost several places I had saved and old ones have an X on the thumbnails. Some saving bug?
