Bullet hell without mouse control?
As the topic say, I really would like mouse control for a game like this.

Yeah, you also wouldn't able to dodge anything. You need tight controls in a game like this.

What do you mean? That you can't dodge with mousecontrol?

I've never heard of a bullet hell using mouse controls.
It's always relative controls, and usually digital (8 directions and two speeds).

I'm not saying it's never been done, but it's absolutely not the standard.
I'd probably feel weird as hell, like those mobile ports that have a (game-breaking) option to use absolute controls (e.g. R-Type II on Android).

I couldn't imagine moving precisely with my xbox controller unless i was born with it in my hands. PLEASE ADD MOUSE SUPPORT.

Again, mouse controls in bullet hell games is not a thing.

If what you really want to do is move at arbitrary speeds and in all directions (instead of 8), then what you really want is to cheat the game.

If you don't like using a controller, use the keyboard.

Please, do give some examples of bullet hell games with both classic controls and mouse controls where the mouse controls don't suck and/or break the game.

I haven't played much bullet hell games, but Bullet Heaven 2 (which I played on Newgrounds) was still pretty challenging even with mouse controls. I think bullet hell games can be challenging with mouse controls.

It's a matter of the game design matching the control scheme.
Your design process has to be informed by the limitations of the control scheme, especially in skill-based games.
For example, it's trivial to make extremely small movements in arbitrary directions with a mouse, and that's absolutely not the case with a keyboard, d-pad or stick.
You can't just tack on a new control scheme onto a game that was designed for something completely different and expect it to work the same.

The game you mentioned plays completely differently depending on whether you use a mouse or not.

Disclaimer: I'm not defending Saviors, or claiming that it's well designed.

How about Raptor: Call of the Shadows from back in the 90s (if you want to go that far back)

Controls with capped max speed are IMHO the fundament of this game. And this is aka 90s space shooter, so why you expect a silly mouse there?

With keys it takes seconds to move from left to right. With a wireless mouse thrown outside the window you can reach both borders within 1 second and this ends the fun of escaping of the enemy fire...

It is impossible to cap max speed when using a mouse... at least it would be very weird...

So key controls are the advantage there IMHO.

god ppl, how strung up are you guys anyways?!?! Why not let those who want to play it with mouse do that?!? You can keep playing with keys if you prefer, make it choice!!
