How does this game compare to Gamebiz 3?

http://www.veloci.dk/gamebiz/GB3.htm

That is by far the most detailed and realistic tycoon game I've played.

If you've played that game, how does GGM compare to Gamebiz 3?

I actually went and grabbed another copy of GB3 just for comparing purposes alone. Nino, the maker, also threw in a copy of Carbiz to help me out with ideas and comparisons. This game is a cross between GB3 and Game Dev Tycoon. It puts more of an emphasis on the simulation part but is not as 'texty' as GB3. I know for sure the Dev at GGM is looking at suggestions from former GB3 players and hoping to include some form of the ideas, even perhaps for some cheap DLC's down the road or Mega-Patches that add many new elements.

So it's a transitionary piece. I think given enough support and time, this game will not only have the easy on the eyes interface, but also the complexity of GB3.

Cheers!

PS- It is a lot of fun, and worth giving it a shot for $10 if you enjoyed GB3.

Ive never heard of that one before but I just went and grabbed the demo. Looks like it could be lots of fun. From the brief time ive tried that game I would say GGM is not as complex but focuses more on the game development than the overall game/hardware industry.

Any hints about GB3 would be nice, seems quite challenging.

It's much less tedious than GB3. You don't need micromanage the team members in the same way(no forming of several teams of a dozen people) and the like. The team members are far fewer in number, but they have many more skills, which you have to manage when you create your games. (The process of designing the games is quite different)

On the other hand, it doesn't have many of the GB3 things like making your own console in great detail(it's quite abstract in GGM), production of consoles and of games in factories, etc.

Overall it's pretty different. Though the same thing applies to both games; the beginning is by far the most interesting part of the game, and once you get to the Playstation era, it becomes considerably more boring since nothing interesting really happens. Although the ability to make your own console unlocks around this time in GGM, unlike GB3 where you can make it at any time you like, should you have the cash. Also, you'll be constantly swimming in money in GGM since you can't do anything with it. In GB3 you can make poor business decisions like producing a poor console no one buys at a good price and go bankrupt, in GGM it's practically impossible to fail at the game provided you survive the admittedly somewhat difficult beginning.

As for hints to GB3: The most basic hint is that you should make games for the platform that has the most numbers sold, so your games can sell more. There's so many things that you can do right and wrong, so it's hard to give advice. You probably shouldn't make a platform until you survive past the "Atari crash"(about '88?), even if you have the money. Realistically you probably won't be able to make your own platform until the early 90s or so, I guess. Making consoles and computers costs a lot and can be hard to sell if you make a poor one, and you need very expensive buildings to make them. So, focus on games until you get them right. Printing other companies games can be profitable if done right(the publisher building?), but I can't really advice much on that.
