Double Dragon Trilogy

Free Play option.
I noticed how there are 3 Continues when playing Arcade mode. I haven't played Story mode yet, but from what I read, there's only 3 lives.

Is there any way to play in a Free-Play option, so that I can have unlimited continues?

Would love this myself. Part of the fun of playing the original arcade--which I did in the 80s!--was to shove a TON of quarters in and just go nuts.

Well, considering this port was made by DotEmu, I expected the option to come out on release. After all, Metal Slug 3 has the same option.

I hope they don't change it to freeplay, like they did with Metal Slug 3. Just learn to play.

That's the beauty. We have OPTIONS. Having limited continues is kinda BS.

Wanting unlimited continues is BS. We already have a fair amount of them.

Simple. If you don't want to use, then don't use it. Me and my friend want to keep having fun without having to worry about continues.

Take Metal Slug for example. 20 credits is nowhere near enough for the whole game.

Unlimited continues might be very lame (i think so) but don't forget though that Double Dragon 3 has this "To buy upgrades/extra lives/power ups you need to insert coins".
You have 3 coins in the beginning, you can spend and afterwards all the Shops in the game become useless because of this flaw.

This also makes the game a bit more unfair towards the player since it was designed with the thought in mind that people spend more money to get upgrades to be able to beat the later levels.

No, it's not that simple. What you're requesting is basically infinite lives. There's a reason the old console and home computer ports of Double Dragon didn't have that. It makes the game too easy, and even if you decide to not use infinite lives/continues, just having it there destroys the challenge and thus a large part of the fun.
I would be fine if they added a "god mode" cheat code. Cheats can be fun, in their own way. But there are reasons why games with cheats don't have them activated at all times.
And yes, 20 credits is enough for Metal Slug.

That's true, Double Dragon 3 would probably have to be handled a bit differently. My suggestion would be to add coins either every few thousand points or when beating levels, but this game is a special case.

At the very LEAST let people choose how many credits you can start with.

As long as it only scales down. Just play easy mode if you don't want to improve your playing.
The current number of credits seem very fair to me. It's very beatable with that amount.

Once again, you're missing the point. A lot of arcade games came with a Free-Play option (disabled by default). It IS a part of the game itself, so it should be a selectable choice, otherwise, people are simply locked out of options. Those who don't want to use it don't.
Those who do, do.

Yes they did, for testing and demonstration purposes etc... If you think that they were meant to be played on freeplay, I don't think you understand that arcade machines were not built for home use.
These games were never meant to be played with infinite credits/lives. If they were, their own ports back in the day would have featured such options, and they didn't. Sure, technically you COULD put in infinite amount of coins in an arcade machine, but you were not expected to do so. It would be crazy to assume players would put in a huge amount of coins for a single session.

If you change the name of the thread to "cheat codes", I'll get off your back. But otherwise, I'll keep protesting when kids like you demand devs ruin perfectly fine games just because you learned the word "freeplay" when buttonmashing through the game on MAME.
Why not just demand they disable player damage completely? Those who want challenge could surely just turn off the game when they feel they've been hit enough times. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt the game at all.
Do you write to Nintendo as well, demanding they give you unlimited lives in Super Mario Bros.?

Now you're just being mean. I just want to have fun and not be "MLGPRO" like yourself. I don't tell YOU how to play your games, so WHY are you doing the same to me?
Besides, there are plenty of people in this hub asking for the same thing.

What if achievements are locked during Free Play mode? Will that please you, Mr.Picky?

No, I'm being silly, because you are being silly. You are telling the devs to change the game not just for you but for everyone, in extension destroying the game for me. Yes, I know there are more than you, but it's still a stupid thing to request.
I'ev already said, if they make it a cheat code, I won't protest.

I'm not asking them to change the game. Metal Slug 3 has that option (not sure about X, as I'm going to get it in a couple of days), so why doesn't DD? There's no way to add extra credits and 3 continues is just WAY too low, considering all the cheap shots *cough*pits*cough* the game throws at me.

Adding said option has no downsides whatsoever. If people want the challenge, they can still play the normal mode to their hearts content. Those who just want to have fun without worrying can simply enable the option.
