Problems with multiple HID devices
Issue with multiple controllers:

The game uses the Windows "Preferred Controller" for Player 1, but then goes to the Hardware ID list and selects the first game controller it finds for Player 2.

If a user has any sort of controller installed on their machine that happens to have a Hardware ID with a lower value than the controller they want to use for player 2, they will be unable to use the desired controller.

Given that Hardware ID's are basically random hex-digits, this means that some of your users will be able to run more than one controller, and others will encounter a non-responsive Player 2 control without knowing why.

This should be fixed so that the user tells the game which controller to use specifically, instead of grabbing the lowest Hardware ID.

For instance, on my system, I have two Cougar MFDs, an X-65F HOTAS, and rudder pedals. I can tell Windows to use a wired xbox 360 controller as the default device, which works for player 1. Even if I plug in a second xbox 360 controller however, Player 2's "controller" is automatically assigned as the Cougar MFD because it has the lowest Hardware ID. (VID_044F) If I disable the Cougar MFDs, my X-65F would be next in line, with Hardware ID of VID_06A3.

The only way around this currently, is to unplug ALL my other controllers.

FYI, your release of Metal Slug 3 suffers the EXACT same issue.

Thanks for noticing and caring about this issue, Devs. I'll keep your response in mind when you next release a game.

Since you don't seem to care, here's my contribution to your retirement fund, in the form of a public review.

"If you have more than one HID connected to your system, such as a joystick, or full HOTAS, you most likely will have to physically unplug them ALL if you want to play local coop with two controllers. Same problem as their release of "Metal Slug 3," and same uncaring response (that is, no response at all) by the developers.

Smaller developer studios manage to avoid this problem. Until DotEmu fixes this, I'd avoid both games if you even remotely care about local coop."
