Thoughts on the game after finishing.
Just finished the game and enjoyed it quite a bit. I notice Frayed Knights 2 is underway, so a few things that would be good to improve upon:

1. Looks like graphics are boosted in 2, so that's good.

2. Loot. Loot was pretty unrewarding in 1. It would be nice to recieve some nice weapons or trinkets when completely major plot points or beating bosses, but many times a chest or drop was just junk. Having lots of money was fine, except nothing in the stores outside of potions and gems was worth buying.

3. The UI for battles feels a bit clunky. Clicking C, then selecting an ability, or scrolling through pages of a spell book, then clicking on a level of a spell, then clicking cast. It's a lot of clicks just to make a spell happen. It would be nice that whenever it's a character's turn, a hotbar displays somewhere (maybe make it moveable) that maybe has 6 abilities on it. Click an ability on the hotbar to activate it, or if it's a spell, a ladder is displayed of spell levels available for that spell. I found myself just making everyone attack by the end of Frayed Knights for trash fights, because clicking through pages of a spellbook was too time consuming and frustrating. "C" > Click > Click > Click > Click if you were selecting a spell that was not one of your 3 hotkeys.

4. Gems. I understand not wanting powerful spells that do major things to be easy to spam, but I'm really not a fan of paying 20+ silver to cast a spell. Pretty much all of the "exciting" spells required money to cast. At least make it so the base level of these spells is free, then make spell levels 2-5 cost a range of gems or components to cast.

5. I think the tank and rogue needed more abilities rather than basically 'slightly different attacks" and "fade". Maybe a sweep ability, throwing dust in an enemy's face, taunt, etc.

Other than those minor gripes, I loved the first game and look forward to the second one.

I apologize for necroing this post, but I had noticed how you mentioned that the sequel of this game is underway

It's been 3 years now, and zero info on it outside of the last Blog post on the main site in 2016. So don't get your hopes up.

I'd completely forgotten about this game. From what I can gather on the web, the developer has decided to write books instead of working on a new game. Kind of a shame he never gave any updates to at least say, "Hey guys, I know you are waiting on this, and it might still happen ONE day, but for now I'm doing something else with my time," or something to that effect.
