What posistion is BN supposed to mean??

I am a big baseball fan and I can't figure this one out. Am I missing something obvious? I have a number of what seem to be bench player with a position labeled as BN.

BN is referring to bench player. The positions displayed in the List view refer to their currently assigned field position and place in the batting order (so, not necessarily their primary position if you changed the starting lineup a bunch); the four players on the Bench just get a BN label.

Can I assign them to specific posistions? And do everyday position players get tired if they aren't subbed out or is there not really any downside to keep them in everyday?

Each player has a primary position and secondary position that you can see on their player card. In the Starting Lineup screen, you can swap player in from the bench, and swap lineup players around on any of the positions (other than Pitcher). Putting a player in his or her secondary position will give them a small penalty to their Fielding and Mojo, and putting him or her in a different position entirely will give them a more significant penalty.

Only pitchers have a stamina mechanic; you can safely use the same starting lineup an entire season, only using the bench players for pinch hitting, running, etc.
