I've "invested" hundreds of hours into this game, and thought I'd share my findings regarding pitching strategy. Tip #1: If your pitcher starts getting hit around, go to the soft stuff (Change-up, Forkball, even the Meatball), but be sure to keep the ball down and on the edges. These pitches tend to not get hit too hard. Tip #2: I've found the most effective strikeout pitch is what I'll call a "front door cutter", by which I mean a cutter from a RHP to a RH hitter that starts inside just off the plate and cuts back just over the inside edge (also works for lefty-lefty match-ups). You'll get tons of punch outs and whiffs with this approach! Note that I most often use the regular pitching mechanic, less so power pitching.

What team do you use?

Most of my pitchers (Blowfish) don't have a ton of velocity to begin with, and maybe the Ego level means they can usually make contact with pitches they decide to swing at, so my strike out pitches tend to be junk pitches that just catch the lower corners. If I land a power pitch with very high accuracy, then there's a good chance against average-to-below average batters.

Kinda ironic that I also use the Blowfish, w/ Backman (C) and Mann (2B) as starters. My average power attribute of my starters is > 90 since it's so fun to launch HR's in this game. I've been trying to get the SMB Master achievement for ages, and I must confess that I "cheat" by moving the best pitcher upgrades between my SP's between games. So all my SPs are pretty jacked up, and that probably contributes to the effectiveness of the pitches that work best for me. Too bad there's no online - would be interesting to play a Blowfish v. Blowfish series... hahaha.

Hey Mono, thanks for sharing that. Very interesting to compare to my squad (I'm at level 87 now). Your guys are more balanced than mine, and I exaggerated about my power. The average is actually 88. I'll try to link images when I get a chance.
