Not sure if this answers your question but I'm at level 65 now with roughly 150 hours playtime. Seems like it gets slower to level up the higher you go. But I guess it would go much faster for better players playing at higher EGO levels.
I'm playing on ego 99 now, averaging about 700-800k points per game, which hasn't changed much since ego 80. Actually, I think my records for points over a season have come at ego 80-85.
I'm about 25% through a long season on 99 now and winning about .700. I've also put about 500 hours into the game, so take that into account too.
I've said before I'm not a great pitcher, so I rely heavily on the long ball. My wins are mainly because I out slug the enemy.

Many of the teams ace pitchers are crazy hard to hit, if you dont try to tire them out your going to be in trouble. Also as you grind for pts and upgrades you'll find your batter being more competitive with the game and you'll find yourself moving up in ego again. Just not as quick as it went up to this point.
Couple other posts in the discussion thread that talk about it too, if you feel like it, do a little checking around and see what you can see.
