There isn't a career mode, just a season mode and it's pretty bare bones. You don't really manage anything other than hiring some coaches/trainers. You can edit your players appearances, change the name of your team, tiny stuff like that.

They have an exhibition mode where you play a single game and a season mode (they have different lengths for the season. A short season is 16 games + playoffs).

You can customize your entire teams appearance and throughout the season you can hire coaches, get new equipment, etc. Which all boost your teams stats. Through the season your players wear down, so you can give players breaks and stuff.

I love baseball and never had another baseball game due to never owning PS3/4 so I have nothing to compare this game to. I gotta say, I'm having an absolute blast. Just checking league stats after every couple games is a lot of fun. I feel a little connection to my players. John Horne is a monster at the plate, batting .500, constant doubles/triples/home runs, etc.

For a dollar off of humble bundle, you cannot go wrong if you enjoy baseball.

Thanks, this is very nice to hear after just buying the game off the HB. The only complaints I've heard about it is the lack of a 'Career' mode but you've hyped me for the Season mode, it seems reasonably long. Long enough to get attached to players and get some upgrading going.

I'm personally also a fan of rogue-like and permadeath games so I don't mind the feeling of restarting

In case you haven't realized and/or haven't been told: when you move from season to season, if you keep the same team, all your upgrades and modifications carry over. So it's like a "light" version of career mode.

Stats don't carry over so you can't track stats across seasons, unfortunately. But it's pretty cool to keep upgrading your players across multiple seasons.

No, because the CPU teams do their own upgrading. Plus you can increase the Ego level by a few points each season.

Really? I have not noticied their upgrading. For me they stay the same every season all season!

The CPU teams definitely hire their own "staff" that helps their stats.

Yup - the CPU teams upgrade their player skills as if they were at the same level as you.

Career mode leaves much to be desired, but I find myself wanting to boot it up for another game oddly.
