More games like this
I really liked the game, despite all of its flaws (poor mechanics presentation, little action feedback, puzzles sometimes too easy, short and so...). Now I'm now looking for similar titles, games that have a series of nice varied puzzles, while not being as dry as your usual 'puzzle genre'. That have either some interesting narrative, soundtrack or artstyle, or are 'relaxing' in some way.
I know already of the Amanita games and saw that other one this developer cites as his inspiration in the description, they are very nice, but I'm looking at more varied puzzles too.

So what are your favorite similar titles? Besides Machinarium, Botanicula, Samorost 1-2.

Morphopolis is technically a hidden object game, a huge part of the casual games market. There are tons of them on Steam and other platforms.
HOGs are heavily stripped down Point-and-Click adventures. The core gameplay is inventory puzzles. Concentrate on the screen to find somewhat hidden objects, then use those objects elsewhere.
Besides that many HOGs also add some variety with other puzzles embedded as minigames.

The problem is that a whole lot of HOGs also have a very kitschy art style and atrocious writing. In that matter, Morphopolis is outstanding in the HOG genre by having a very nice art style.

In my opinion Artifex Mundi makes some of the better games HOGs. The art style is usually the same, but passable., and the writing is at least somewhat decent. Also Artifex Mundi often sells bundles on HumbleBundle/Indiegala/BundleStars/..., like this current one: https://www.indiegala.com/artifex You might want to keep a look out.

I also quite liked both parts of The Clockwork Man: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15352/

You might like the eyezmaze games especially the grow games :)

Tormentum has the best art I've seen in a game, good music and intuitive puzzles similar to Morphopolis.

The Silent Age is awesome - real good fun point n click game with superior sci-fi story along the lines of 12 monkeys - nice retro art style too - managed to get all the achis in that one too

Thank you guys. I will check all of this out at some point. Right now I'm interested in Tormentum and Clockwork Man, will get them at some sale.
And just to note - it doesn't necessarily need to be hidden object.

I'll leave "Alice is dead" as a recommendation myself. It's a fun HO, although it's not that deep in puzzles beyond the combination & clicking game.

I tend to like the gentler games as well so if you look at my gaming list you may get some ideas. I also find things by searcing the terms meditative, beautiful, thoughtful, etc.

Came to say I'm playing The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 right now and holy ♥♥♥♥ - what a nice game!
The puzzles are, it seems, of a single variety: the simple combine and use click fest, but how nicely done. It is very sucessul in applying its puzzles to the story, itself the main draw of the game, thanks to the great writing, which also gives the dialogue and characters that spark that makes fictional worlds stand on their own.
It strays a bit from my original post, since it's drawn aren't the puzzles themselves, but after playing it, I had to give a recommendation.
