How to examine patient??

It says you may need to have the patient undress to do an examination but I can't figure out how.

I saw that too and was also briefly confused. However, a little ways into the game, you have the option to buy examination tools from the tinker lady.

Keep checking your resupply order form at the end of each day, eventually the option comes.

But yeah, it would probably be better if that line wasn't in the book at the start of the game.
