Paying Close Attention Achievement

The "Paying Close Attention" achievement says that to unlock it, you must solve the cellar door puzzle without any clues. I don't remember finding any clues for this puzzle and solved it through trial and error, but the achievement didn't unlock. Did I find the clues for it without even realizing it? If so, what are the clues?

Not certain, but I think the clues are the objects on display in Dr. Faust's mansion. Specifically, I think it's the heads. There's 3 of them, and 3 buttons have to be pressed. I'm gonna double check this myself.

OK, I figured out the clues: on a desk in one of the rooms is a calendar with three dates circled. The dates represent item numbers which have the clues for the symbols to use on the door. So, to unlock this achievement, you can't examine any of the items in the mansion.
