Step 1 go to: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842
If you have a 64 Bit O/S download and install: Windows6.1-KB976932-x64
If you have a 32 Bit O/S download and install: Windows6.1-KB976932-x86
Step 2 go to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49984
If you have a 64 Bit O/S download and install: VC_redist.x64.exe
If you have a 32 Bit O/S download and install: VC_redist.x86.exe
Step 3 when installing the “VC_redist.x64.exe” if prompted with either repair of modify click: Repair
Now the game will run!
I'm hitting this exact same issue with 2 other games. I can't install the KB2999226 without SP1.
KB2999226 is a patch that should enable software made with Windows 10 to run on Windows 7, so I think SP1 is unavoidable.
I'm installing it now.
