This is Sudden Strike! Why change the name????
I own Sudden Strike 1 & 2 and then it disappeared off the face of the earth. Recently just seen this and it looks exactly the same as SS (Also CDV) , just curious why the name got changed and is it any good?

This is not sudden strike this is Blitzkrieg. The best RTS game ever :)

I came a few years after SS. I you loved SS you will love this more!

That is what I though until my dad bought me the complete anthology as a gift. They are similar games but play very differently. So far with my experience of Blitzkrieg 1 ( haven't tried 2 yet) I prefer Sudden strike 2. One thing this game has that I wish SS did is making infantry into squads.

Played both franchises and they are very, very diifferent. Could run "SS" on a PC run by a mouse on a treadmill...Blitzkrieg, however brought my PC to a standstill at the time.
This was and is a challenging RTT/RTS where limbering, unlimrbering artillery and making sure they are supplied at all times is essentia,l and not just a 'given' (as one examp-le). Take that Crusader tank into a duel with a Panzer IV and it's not rock, paper, scissors. Armour and armour peneteration stats are all taken into account.
"Sudden Strike" was more about massed infantry attacks/defence and to be quite frank, near impossible objectives (the second was a bit less unforgiving).
"BK", where the environment is destructible is just as challenging, but in a fair way and will punish tank rushing tactics, as they really were punished at the time.

"SS" was a "Jump-in, let's go!" game. This is "Let's go....after a wee bit of planning, and then some".

It's not sudden strike.

I played SS2 years ago, I downloaded it off some website to try it out again after this.

SS2 is unbeilevably slow paced compared to this.

Probably the same engine though

is the SS series ever coming to steam? i loved those games.

I'd like to see "Sudden Strike 3" at least come to Steam. Strange that these games have slipped by as they would sell very well. Firefly already has the "Stronghold" series, so why not?

SS series are now on Steam. U can either buy them individually or get them via SS4 pre-order as a bonus

Think I wrote that just before the series landed on Steam. One thing though....does anyone have Sudden Strike 4 and is it any good? It's been in development since my knee surgery and that was some years ago. An exaggertaion, but you get my point.

Secondly, SS was ugly even when first released, and looks do count in RTS's, at least for me. it was playable though - I just never got used to green oceans. Green rivers, sure. Seen plenty of them in the Tropics, but not oceans.

Also I have heard that SS3 has many fatal crash issues.
