Big new update 10/13/2020
After several years, a major patch has been released for Boot Hill Heroes that improves the game in several ways. This patch mostly carries over enhancements in the sequel, Boot Hill Bounties, but there are some interesting updates as well:

  • Updated Menus and Interface: The cleaner, slicker interface from Boot Hill Bounties is here with more readable text and colors.
  • Several sprites have been remade: Including the Weezler, Razor Paw, and most of the Saints-Little Gang.
  • Food is able to be found or purchased as in Boot Hill Bounties: You can buy food from restaurants and eat it there or store it in your inventory for later. Food gives characters a variety of perks that will come in handy.
  • Medical Kits can also be purchased: You can purchase Medical Kits from doctors in towns to heal wounds while on adventures.
  • Updated Script: Some sections of the script have been rewritten, mostly dialogue of the Chepakwik to better connect to Boot Hill Bounties
  • Postgame Content Changes: The riddles to opening the doors in the Cinnabar Mines now pertain to things in Kickstart Creek (as opposed to all over Bronco County). Also, a new final boss has been added.

Hello. I wanted to try play this game, I'm getting frustrated with game screen. Full screen seem to show Windows 10 taskbar overlapping game, nothing I can do about it to hide taskbar. Small and Medium still too small. Large does nothing (it uses previous selected size).

Sorry about that.

1) Try to switch to a smaller window size from the pause menu or press the F3 key.
2. Click on the white top bar of the window menu and drag the window.
3. Switch back to Full Screen again (F1 key).

Yes this trick works, I can see bottom part of game.. however I tried to play, I beaten first boss, go back to Mom, sit down, she ask about how is omelette. I choose "My favorites!", she say "you sound lot like your father." dialog closes and seem like game froze up or something. Couldn't do anything, both Mom and Kid sitting in chair forever, no new dialog, I can't move.

Was using xbox controller BTW.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll look into it immediately.

Edit: It's fixed now. The error was due to a change in this scene that was applied in this latest patch. Thanks for letting me know so I could fix it. Please let me know if you find anything else.

Much appreciated, I'm able to move forward, I'm up to where I'm starting cutting squawker heads off with axe. I'll post if I find anything problematic later.

Game collision is weird, it got me stuck. I need to quit game, reload old save. I didn't get to save =/.

Sheriff must change collision boxes when he turns and catches you. I think I can address this. If you need to reload, your Autosave saves the your game from the last room you entered.

That would have been great, but seem to crash on me, I'm forced to use my old manual save.

Thanks for the update. I'm unable to replicate the collision problem with the sheriff. Can you recall anything unusual about the circumstances in which this happened?

As for the error, I have found the cause and will address it in the next update. Fortunately, the use case is very rare. It's caused by starting the application, then immediately loading a particular save file that starts in a room where a character (in this case Rosy) has something to say. I believe you happened to find the only place and time these currently these exact circumstances can occur, so I'm lucky you found it or it could have gone unnoticed for years.

If you find anything else, you can hold onto your autosave file by renaming the file before it is overwritten. You can find it in your Documents->Saved Games->Boot Hill Heroes. This way I can load your autosave to further investigate the issue.

Edit: Changes should be in effect now.

It just me trying to walk up talk to Sheriff, seem like he had very thin collision. I thought I was walking up to him to talk to him, but ended up walking behind him, got stuck, couldn't talk to him.

Anyway right now I'm up to desert with circus, enemies here seem ridicious high HP.. I'm guessing I'm either under leveled so that I need to grind xp, or I need to invest into upgrading weapon.

Hmm, it could be a lot of things. You can find new weapons for sale in an outhouse by the train station.
