In that folder, just double click the "map02.i3d" file, and it'll open the editor and the map.

Maiteria according to your screenshot I think you are wrong. I might be wrong cause I haven't opened the original maps lately.
However I think they need to zip the folder called Map02 to get the Map02.i3d file to work but I haven't done this in a bit but I think those files need to be extracted out before the Editor will open it up.
I could be wrong which I probably am so if so I am sorry. I will edit this post when I get home and can look for myself since im at work.
the way I think I did it on my home pc was to copy the map02 folder to desktop
and copy the map02 i3d file as well to the map02 folder then opened it in editor.
I think if you are trying to open it in its location now the editor is trying to read all files in that location not just the map02 files. It is also reading the map01 files so the editor is not opening cause its reading the incorrect files.
It opened the Editor. Some time passes, and then the map opens (since it takes some time to load) - and that's it.
I've used it on both maps, to edit a few things :-)
then sry for my post like I mentioned I haven't messed witht he original maps much so I stand corrected. I do apologize.
With Giants Editor installed, it has control of the i3d files, so when you double click it, it opens the Editor, and opens the map.
Otherwise... open the Editor. Click File, select Open.
Navigate to the folder already mentioned. Select the "map02.i3d" file, and click Open.
You do NOT go into the Map02 folder.
The map02.i3d file is in the \maps\ folder.
Look at my screenshot again, in the first post.
I'll add another one for when I'm in the Open dialog in the Editor.

But it's the map02 file with the GE icon that you need to double click / open.
