Round vs Square Bale...New Questions
I know there is a round vs square question already, but I wanted to be more specific.

1. Is there a difference in size between the two, ie, when mixing in the Comfort, is the amount to add different between the two bales? If so, what is the best number of bales for both straw and hay for each in the Comfort? What about mixing two types, ie, round straw and square hay?

2. If the same size, and the square hauler can carry many more bales, why use round?

3. Straw spreader. Does it take both types of bales? It looks like it's only built for round.

4. Round bales tend to roll down hill, the transporter/tipper dumps them in a vertical manner, making them harder to pick up with a fork, and are just generally harder to work with. But given the previous questions, are we stuck with round bales even though square are easier to work with?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes but that's why I said have two Conforts, one for straw and one for mixed rations. I did mention you could run into that problem otherwise.
Gotcha...must have missed that, but yeah that sounds like a good plan.

Yeah I use the Confort for my straw bedding, fits three straw bales at a time.

I did that, but then the shed fills up and you're stuck with a half-full mixer... Now I have a blower, even though it's extremely painful to load, at least it won't stop me from feeding my cows :).

Does anyone known if you can pick up a wrapped round bale with bale forks

Everybody else knows but i don't know I do very little baling. I only bale when I can not feed the animals more cause 6 day limit been reached. And ontop of that the BGA is full. And my Tower Silos are full. And my grass and straw barns are full. And my forage wagons are full. THEN I start baling out of desperation.

And if I bale it is square bales because they stay put.

Otherwise the flow is
straw -> forage wagon -> dump at cows OR into mixing stations
grass -> forage wagon -> dump at cows OR into mixing stations

chaff -> BGA OR tower silos -> silage -> dump at cows OR into mixing stations

mixed feeding -> dump at cows = 90% productivity 100% with straw

Reason I do this is you can handle much larger volumes if all you have to do is fill, transport, dump, and repeat.

Ya know, they're thinking of outlawing the round bales! They say the cows aren't getting a square meal!

I use both. The square baler because you can bale without stopping to unload, plus the autostack trailer holds 16 bales. You will however need a telehandler to handle the high stacks of bales unless you want bales everywhere. I like the round baler because when baling hay, you can make silage bales from them. I don't care if the round bales roll, the round autostack trailer picks them up quite easy.

Why not just get Mchale square baler mod. Then you can have square silage bales

Evetything about square bales sucks, at least in this game! Round bales are way more stable.

How do you figure they suck and round bales are more stable? As in round bales fall over less or coding wise round bales wont crash?

My round bales are 3500L and square ones are 4000L. I was surprised to see this also since I read on wikia that all bales are 4000L. I don't know what to make of this.
Anyhow I switched to square bales altogether.

PS. round bales were made using a mod krone ultima baler-wrapper, but the diameter was 1.3 since any other diameter wouldn't get picked up by the bale collector, so i figured that's the standard diameter.

The ingame roundbaler is 4000L per bale.
The Krone Ultima comes with 1.3 m bales with 3500L, 1.4 m bales with 4000L and the 1.5 m bales that holds 5000L..

So what you saw was correct..
