Tipper vs Auger Wagon
So, last night my friends and I decided it'd be more "proper" if we unloaded from our combine into an auger wagon, and then unloaded from the auger wagon into a tipper. We take our tippers and park them along side the field, then hop in the combines, harvest our rows while one of us follows with the auger wagon, keeping the combines from filling up and having to stop. When the auger wagon is near capacity, it just goes over to the tippers, unloads, then comes back. (We typically only have no more than 3 players, sometimes 2 and rarely 4)

Equipment used:
Combines: 2x Case iH Axial-Flow 7130
Combine Heads: 2x Case iH 3020 35ft, 1x Case iH 3412 12R
Header Trailer: 3x Tam Leguan Quatro 40
Tractor used for transporting for Header Trailers: 2x Deutz-Fahr Agrostar 6.61 (two trips)

Auger Wagon: Horsch Titan 34 UW
Tractor used for transporting Auger Wagon: Case iH Magnum 380

Tipper 1&2: 2x Krampe Big Body 900 S
Tipper 3: Krampe SB 30 / 60
Tractors/Trucks used for transporting tippers: Case iH Magnum 380, Man TGS 18.440

Here's the problem. The pipe on the Auger Wagon doesn't clear either the Krampe Big Body 900 S or the Krampe SB 30 / 60. You can make it work by bumping into things and letting them work themselves out, but it's obviously not made for this setup in mind.

There is JUST enough clearance on the Axial-Flow pipe that we can usually fit a Big Body 900 S in without any collision issues. It's been working fine for us, since the large capacity of the Big Body 900 S has allowed us to have two people harvesting and one person unloading pretty much non-stop even on the larger fields that are further away from the home silo.

It doesn't feel "proper" though. I somehow got it in my head that we shouldn't be driving the tippers on the field behind the combines, and using an auger wagon is the "correct" way to do it.

I'm no farming expert though, so here I ask:
How would you do it, in this game specifically?

How would you do it in real life, if you're an experienced/educated farmer?

Are there other tippers with decent capacity that would clear the auger wagon pipe and still be worthwhile (not having to stop and drive it back to the silo after every pass.

Should we just not bother with the auger wagon?

I never bother with the auger wagon.

I grew up on a 2,500 acre Dairy farm and harvested many a field of grain and never used an auger machine. Just from combine to tipper or truck. There is no "proper" way of harvesting but whatever works for you is fine. Just my opinion........

If you have a truck parked alongside, the field, with a long trailer, i would think that using the auger would work.
Only 1 driver for delivering a huge amount of grain in one haul, saving fuel and wage.
Instedad of having 3 smaller tractors running in pendule from farm to field with their smaller trailers, which would cost more fuel, and wages.
I dont think the truck would drive around on the field, following the Combine, as the risk of the truck with increasingly heavier trailer probally would end up getting stuck in the field, or get damaged driving around in there.
Does that make any sense?

Soil compaction and sinking are the only real reasons not to drive a weighted tractor/trailer into a field. Around my county they drive trucks on the fields all the time. It's just the way it's done.

I only use the auger because my harvester usnt high enough to empty into a semi trailer

Do you even necro bro??

I farm in Illinois, and we use an auger wagon so our combine never stops unless it needs fuel or repair, not talking in-game here, im talking IRL, we use trucks to haul from the field to storage or directly to the grain elevator, great system and it keeps the weight of a loaded truck off the soil, dont get much compaction from a tractor and auger wagon

use the ITRunner... it can put down containers on the ground. no wheels. short.. I've used the Auger on it... works fine.

Exactly this!

The big grain container has a decent capacity of 45000. You can put it down on the floor in seconds and it isn't to high to be loaded anymore. If younger yourself the MAN ITrunner mod (a truck that can load those containers) you can even transport 2 containers with only 1 vehicle. 1 container on the truck, 1 container on the trailer. That's 90000 capacity in total, enough for most fields. And the truck can easily pull and steer two completly full containers.

If you need more capacity you can place some containers besides the field, drive back and get more containers before starting to harvest... That way you can have as much storage as you want right besides the field, you just need to do several trips to bring it back to the farm. But this is cheaper and more practical (especially concerning the height of a container vs height of a trailer) than having several trailers. :)
