Tree growing time.
Just curious for the tree farmers out there, how long does it take a tree to grow to cutting size?
I've planted a pallet of trees along the starting field in Westbridge and they seem to take a long time to grow. (I guess it's been almost 2 game days and they are still saplings).

In the same boat, looking at the discussions it's a few days depending on what clothes the pope is wearing. So basically, hurry up and wait?

From my own testing Trees have Growth states of 3, 5, 8 and 10 days. After 10 days they are ready for harvest.

Are there different stages of trees? I just came back to my log landing and noticed the saplings turned into some what trees. What's the normal height of fully grown trees?

Atleast wait till they get to the next stage. I found so far to be two stages of grow that I seen. Sapling, Samller size then taller after that. If you cut them down at the first growth then I only got about 1,000 per tree. Waiting till next growth I was getting about 50k$ for three trees (I cut three at a time fits in carrier that connects to tractors). I have not seen another growth yet, but I got 140 trees planted so maybe I will see something before cutting them all down. Takes time to do, but can be worth it.

I saw on a different discussion that it's 11 days. it has only been a few days in game for me and they just went from the saplings to small trees, so I have no first hand knowledge yet.

Is it not just easier buying a placeable tree at a cost of £7,000 and getting around £40,000 return on it? no need for it to grow just cut and sell etc

I am not aware of these placeable trees you speak of, I will look for them with diligence. While I wait for my trees to grow.

Buying allready grown trees feels like cheating to me. I only cut trees allready on the map, and trees i planted. Exept if it's a tree for decoration, then i buy one.....

Its more fun growing them yourself ;) I did see a third stage growth on my earlier trees, but did not seem much of a difference. Saplings only cost $40 for 20, much more of a profit margin for waiting, while waiting you can do other farming needs. I did a lot of120x speed to get crops to grow so that speeds it up a bit.

If you are going to do a lot of tree chopping then get a couple of fields and keep trees planted. I used field 38 that you start with and planeted about ~200 trees there. So many trees So little time.

I wish I kept track of how many days it was taking, but did not think of it at the time. I am not sure how many days have passed.

You can always get the Time Acceleration mod, which works much faster than the in game one. As for trees growing timeframe, just find yourself lucky it only 3-10 days in game. hehe
I've seen Silviculture Prescriptions by Foresters suggesting anywhere from 40yrs to 125yrs depending on the tree species and location.
So I'm more than content waiting only 3-10 days in game. hehe

forest rotation is usually 8-20 years so if you consider that 1 day in FS is 1 year it's sort of accurate

8-20yrs...must be down south somewhere I imagine? As a Forest Officer, I haven't seen any 8-20yrs rotations in Ontario or British Columbia, Canada. Unless you're talking about selective logging where you can have logging happening every 5-10yrs to grab a few trees as prescribed. For clearcutting though, we don't see any re-entry of anykind until much later. And quite frankly, on some higher elevation cutblocks near alpine which I monitored, I had a really hard time believing that any trees would grow back period, even though the prescriptions said 80yrs. The only thing left after the logging was rocks/boulders and stumps. No viable substrate left anywhere for a seedling to grow.
