Extract the map zip file from the rar and place in the mods folder as usual (do not further extract the zip file).

Use WinRar or 7Zip to handle the Rar file.

Lets review the process for installing mods.

After downloading the mod, check the following:
  • Is it compressed inside of another zip? This is often true of maps which may contain addition mods or instructions. If so, extract the needed zips and place them in the mods folder.
  • Is the mod for FS15? Open the zip, and view the modDesc.xml Look for <modDesc descVersion="20"> or higher.
  • Is the mod placeable in game or only for use with the editor? View the modDesc.xml as discussed above and look for <species>placeable</species> in the <storeItems> section. This indicates the mod is placeable.
  • It is not necessary to extract mods to the mod folder. Only for maps will you see a reduction in loadtimes (note however the map will be disabled for MP). It is very easy to extract the mod and lose the file path. On the other hand, if you do a lot of modding like I do you may extract the mods to their own folder (preserving file names and paths) with no ill effects.

I also recommend taking a few moments to learn how to find the log.text located here: C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2015 should you run into issues. There are several dozen errors and warnings that can easily be read and used for troubleshooting of problimatic mods.

You do not need a video to copy and replace files.

It depends on which texture you are replacing. Skybox? Fruit? Foliage? Waterplane? Soil?

im replacing the ground textures

Mod link?

But as a rule, for base game maps (note for these maps you will get a warning in MP):

Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Farming Simulator 15\data\maps\textures and /or foliage and replace the .dds files with the mods.

For mod maps, you will first need to extract the map to its own folder preserving the folder structure. Then replace the .dds's as above using the relative path. There is no need to recompress the map. In fact uncompressed mod maps will load signifigantly faster. For example:

C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2015\mods\BJORNHOLM_NEW_DESIGN_40\Map
