Chaff

Hey! Do I create chaff if I take straw from hay with a harvester that takes straw and grass?

You make chaff if you cut maize/corn with the krone or new dlc new holland forage harvester.. and i am also pretty sure that you can get it from cutting the grass with it, but dont hang me up on that one..
Picking up the straw or grass windrows with those harvester will just make either hay/grass or straw that you can use to feed animals with or sell.. its just another way to do it instead of bailing it..

I use an forage wagon. Chaff from wheat straws?

as i said, you need to cut maize/corn or grass with the forage harvesters to get chaff.. picking up straws or grass/hay with the forage wagon will only pick it up and let you unload it..

Cut grass with a lawn mower (one that attaches to the front) .. (middle shop one) and attach ur forager wagen to the back of ur tractor .. mow away while ur forager wagon picks up the grass .. take to the BGA .. compress .. and wala :))

Other way is to plant "corn" and use BigX or the new DLC .. attach 2 bull tippers to BigX and chaff it

which will give him silage, not chaff..

Just my oppinion .. nothing plants corn better than the Case 620 .. not to mention if u need the "huge" seeder .. Case tractor 620 is the way to go .. ur doing silage .. buy it .. Also recco Big x over the NH DLC for chaffing ur corn :))

Lastley .. of note .. the JCB DLC i think is worth it .. Either way get the front loader with the 6.4 ton bucket .. when the BGA reaches 20k .. hit num "8" to speed up time to x5 .. at about 2k .. hit num "7" to bring time back to x1 .. rinse n repeat :))

The forage wagon is only for picking up grass or straw, not for making chaff.

To get chaff from anything you need a special harvester. The Krone BigX works as does the New Holland from the DLC.

Chaff from corn or wheat/barley require different headers for that harvester and you will need to either follow the harvester with a tractor and trailer or connect a trailer to the harvester.

Chaff is the green grass-like stuff that you get when cutting down ripe corn (or wheat/barley) with a chaff cutter such as the Krone BigX. You store it in a bunker just like you would with grass that you mow and pick up with a forage wagon. You turn it into silage to feed your animals or to sell to the biogas plant.

Also, YES the Pottinger Mex 5 is a chaff cutter but in my opinion it doesn't cut a wide enough path to make it worth using.

Nice try but "Hackschnitzel" is "wood chips". We are discussing chaff or "Spreu" in german.

OK .. CHAFF= planting corn .. harvesting with BigX (or NH DLC) (BigX in my oppinion) .. cutting grass also = grass to the BGA which = sillage .. of course grass isn't chaff .. but can be used at the BGA for sillage .. example .. if u'r on map 2 (Westbrook hills) .. lots of grass .. MOW .. especially if u can't afford BigX n planting corn .. on map 1 "Bjornhelm" .. best to cut some trees and plant corn cause grass is scarce .. then BigX for chaff :))
