I lost the key to open the game

how do I get it?

Right click on the game and select View CD Key.

You don't need the key if you buy it for yourself on the Steam store as it is automatically added to the account. Therefore if someone is asking about their CD key it is quite likely that they won't have the game on their Steam account already.

if you are saying its a game he bought and hadnt installed yet you are right.
most likely not the case.
also prossible he had a non-steam version, in this case he didnt have to ask here because it is non-steam.

i stand by my first point: he doesnt even have the game at all.
