Courseplay - Need advise on unloading combines
I'm really trying to get where I can use CP effectively. Recording combines: easy. Having them unloaded: issues.

I'll record a course, usually from the top of a field close to a road, drive to storage or selling, and then return basically to the starting point. I'll pick the combine and start the course. The problem I'm constantly running into is the tractor/tipper constantly loses the combine. Sometimes it picks it up and unloads like it should and sometimess it just sits there. I'll check it and it still has the combine loaded. I can't figure it out.

What are some suggestions on setting up courses for unloading combines? Any tips are appreciated.

Thanks!

Try having the tractor start in the field or use another tractor. Some vehicles do not like to cooperate with courseplay. I have a tractor that does that does that as well.

It doesn't sound like your doing any thing wrong. The problem with CP is that it will ♥♥♥♥ up sometimes, there not much you can do about it. You can follow a tut step by step and it will still ♥♥♥♥ up.

I've lost count the amount of time a tractor thats set up to unload a combine has driven off into a wall, trees or a hedge for no reason at all. The only thing you can really do is just keep an eye on it if you have the spare time. Glance can help with that

Dont get me wrong the guys that made it did some thing pretty awesome but its not the 'better than sliced bread' mod that people, especially around here, make it out to be. Still alot of work to be done. Hopefully the makers will address some of the issues in 17, an update may come out before then but time will tell on that one

Do you manually select the combine for the tractor, or is it set to automatic?

I have not had a lot of luck with automatic myself. Seems like generally the tractor is to far away to see any combine when I do that.

I've always had to cycle to it manually. It says automatc, but never finds them.

I'll give this a shot. :)

This is an issue many people have, its a great program but not perfect. I have issues on bigger, odd shaped fields. I will usuall make two adjustments if a feild is an issue. One is adjusting the percentage at which the tractor the the trailor responds (default is 50% I believe) to the combine, adjusting this up can lead to fewer times the tractor and trailor is coming in contact with the combine. The second thing you can do is to have the combine stop on off-loading. I believe this setting is on the combine.

Like Dmalone said, sometimes you can't leave it on automatic; you need to assign a harvester to your unloader.

The Courseplay authors did a great job but they've become busy with real life. I would suggest that anyone who uses the application to visit their website and drop a couple bucks in the tip jar or I suspect there will be fewer additions to it when FS17 comes out.

The previous are good suggestions. To add to that...
1) I now manually choose the combine every time. Since doing that I've not had issues with the tipper not responding to the call.
2) another thing that helped is putting the call based on fill level and not on distance. For some reason the distance thing seems to mess up the system.

A few more points.

Sometimes the tractor can not see the combine and vice versa and that can cause a problem if you have a large feild and or have hills that might block line of sight.

I have used course play a lot and generally do not have a problem. I have had some of the following problems.

Tractors run into combine. As some have said some tractors do not like CP. Also you can manually set the offset of the tractor to the combine and it may have to be tweeked. It should set automatically, a few times i have had to tweek it a bit

Sometimes the combine does not call the tractor. You can go into the combine and hit request driver manually and it will call the tractor.

Its good to place the start and stop point in the mid part of the field and on its longest side, so you get maximum viewing of field from points. I too place the points on the edge of the field and not on the field.

I hope the above helps
