Men of War: Red Tide

Okay needs some help!
Please if you can, I need some pointers. I'm on the second mission where your eight paratroopers infiltrate just outside a large enemy position. No matter what I try, when the base gets alerted it goes ape crazy. The enemy even drives into almost every building knocking them down. I'm vastly outnumbered.

What makes this worse is that for some reason nine times out of ten, half my men don't adhere to my commands. And I'm not talking a soldier returning fire when he's getting shot at and I have "hold fire" command on him. That would make sense. But I set up two machine gunners near the bridge because I found out earlier about the motorcyclist who makes a run for it to get reinforcements. I have them set far back enough where the enemy can not see them and I have them holding fire and laying prone. I can sit there for five to ten minutes while doing something else and they don'e move. Then out of nowhere, they'll just start shouting and crawling off and then running off, back and forth in circles and acting crazy which then alerts the enemy.

Why are they not doing what I tell them? Is it bugs or something else I'm not understanding. I even tried putting them back with the rest of the unit just in case for some reason they function better with an officer in the group but most of them will go off and do something crazy justout of nowhere.

I'm playing on easy and I got through the first main level ok but I suspect that's because its meant to be a prologue/tutorial and they keep resupplying units for you to battle with.

I'm only eight guys against a whole freaking platoon including armored vehicles and machine gun implacements. I tried checking my men's inventory to see if there was anything I could use to sneak in and sabotage certain things but I could not find anything. We are supposed to be special operations units who live by their wits and whatever they can find but I don't get to equip them, they are hard to control, but even more so when they just ignore orders even when its quiet and nothing dangerous is happening or around and go off and behave goofy. I could use some pointers. In the first level I was fairly successful at commandeering enemy artillery and moving it around to use against the enemy and trying different things out but this level is just rediculously stacked agains you and I have a unit that splits up and bounces around like popcorn.

Thanks for any tips that you might have.

Not helpful. But if I had them in my inventory I would. :)

Anyone who plays or has played this I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Are you still stuck? I can tell you everything I know and with the bonus of keeping all your troops alive.

For now I'll only tell you how to beat half of the village section. If you're really stuck, ask me for help.

First off, set all your units to "Hold" (Arrow should be crossed out) and hide from the scouting party when you first land. (Not worth killing them, but you can if you want to that much. I usually just kill the single Romanian SMG infantry running back to the village so the garrison doesn't man all their weapons.) Also use direct control a lot.

Head toward the small campsite with a BA-10 and kill all the Romanians there and then search for an anti-tank rifle in the box lying around the campfire. This is 100% required. I never payed much attention to the BA-10 as it didn't have enough fuel to do anything of use.

Kill the 2 Romanians patrolling the outskirts of the village nearby the second BA-10 and position your machine gunners and rest of your paratroopers that don't have the anti-tank rifle near the BA-10 on hold fire.

Go toward the bridge with the paratrooper with the ATR (Anti-Tank Rifle) and then you should see some guards and 2 AT Riflemen at the post. Save before you do the following as it requires everything to work out perfectly with great timing.

You MUST kill both AT Riflemen or else you won't have enough time to reload and kill the other one before your paratrooper dies from the hail of bullets. To perform this, aim at closest AT Rifleman and line up your shot so the other AT Rifleman is behind him.

As soon as you shoot and kill both AT Riflemen in one shot, run away, click back to your machine gunners, and set them to open fire and have the rest of your paratroopers run toward the BA-10.

Direct control one of your machine gunner to kill any damned Romanians stopping your glorious rampage.

After doing that all of that. SAVE YOUR GAME. This is the next hardest part and will take many many tries. Or you just might get lucky and do it on your first try.

Slow down time to 1 or 2 (Using backspace) and use your coxial machine gun (Right click I think to quickly switch) and gun the motorcycle down and the driver if you want. Then turn left and run over the AT gun and then turn right to the third BA-10 and gun down the Romanian trying to operate it with your machine gun (You'll need that BA-10 later), AND THEN smash into the house behind the third BA-10 to kill the final and last AT Rifleman in the village. Then after all of that, all your paratroopers might be alive. Kill the rest of the Romanians and procede to capture the third BA-10. Also don't go to the officer yet and get your BA-10s in position near the edge of the map that has lots o' bumpy land.

And no tutorial was looked up in all of this mess. Sorry for the long read.

Hey thanks for the response and suggestions. I have progressed further in the mission but didn't respond back as there seems to be not many players around. This is one cruel mission wow.

After many, many reloads and save states, I finally got past the first and second objective. I have only TWO men left! Now I'm trying to escape and just when I thought they couldn't be any more cruel and unusual, now its becoming a challenge just to escape with having only two men left and from what I can see, tons of foot and mechanized patrols.

I will try to finish the mission whith my last two men as I don't ever want to see this mission again lol. It was an awfully sloppy road to where I got but I've tried tons of different approaches. I watched part of a video tutorial but not much past the first camp where the BA-10 is. I didn't know it was there until that video so I utilized it for part of the mission. The anti tank snipers were harsh. Right before the tank column comes in I tried finding the AA rifle that was in the nest right next to the bridge/checkpoint but it was nowhere to be found. After a dozen tries I was finally able to take my two men and utilize one of the enemie's artillery pieces against the column. Now I have two men left on foot and I'm trying to sneak out and escape.

I wish you luck in the Red Tides of the Soviet Union, but, I'm curious on this part;

Did you lose both BA-10s during the cleanup from anti-tank grenades?
Coot Apr 23, 2016 @ 8:21pm
I'm not sure I understand what you mean about the grenades but I did loose both I think. Actually something is going on that I'm not understanding. I've had the troup carriers get damaged enough where the enemy or my guys will jump out but the fire stops and the vehicle actually looks okay. However when I give a repair command to one of my guys to fix a vehicle it won't do anything. So I don't know if its because it damaged beyond repair or because of some other factor.

I've made up 2 reasons why a vehicle can't be repaired:

The hull is destroyed.
Or there are no repair kits around.

If your soldier just turned around a little, then there is no repair kit nearby. Search farther a bit. Or there just might not be any repair kits at all.
Coot Apr 23, 2016 @ 8:41pm
Ah okay that's probably it. I didn't know a kit was needed for the repair. Thanks again for the help. Hopefully I can sneak my way to the end of the mission. Just have to avoid all the patrols and the huge minefield in my way. :(
Did you ever beat it? I'm stuck on the 3rd misson

I don't remember Delta. Steam says I last played the game in June of 2016 so I don't think I got passed the mission. I would imagine watching a Youtube tutorial conducted by a seasoned Men of War player would be the best help.

AFGuides did a video.
That said MOW stealth is janky so you usually just play these maps like normal combat.
